We all know that summers in the New Jersey are getting hotter and more humid by the year. And with the heat and balmy weather comes an an almost unquenchable thirst. The remedy? The FANATSTIC 2022 Domaine La Ferrandière “Brody Rosé” Grenache Gris! If you’ve enjoyed a stash of any of our previous releases grabbed a stash of the last vintage of this “everyday overachiever” then you already know the incredible value this wine offers.  As you know, I take a considerable amount of pride in my carefully curated rosé section and I am so happy that, over the past few years, the Brody Rosé has solidified its place as one of my greatest finds from South France, regardless of style. Dry, complex, refreshingly delicious and – most importantly – an incredible value, it is the perfect wine for spring/summer BBQ’s, beach trips, special occasions where you want to impress but not break the bank, chilling at the lake, hanging in the backyard…its basically your “go-to” everyday rosé!

The special terroir of Domaine La Ferrandière:  Coaxed to perfection by Domaine La Ferrandière, this 100+ year old estate is known throughout the France for their amazing values and this elegant, mineral-driven rosé will bring you right to the beaches of the French Riviera. Made from 100% Grenache Gris hand harvested from 30-year-old-vines, the grapes are fermented in large vats using ambient yeast, and aged on the lees for three months before bottling. But the real X-factor is the location, location, location! Located between the famed appellations of Corbières and Minervois, and 25km from the Mediterranean, the Ferrandière Estate enjoys one of the most unique locales in all of France. Their vines are planted on the site of an ancient salwater marsh amidst the hills and mountains of the Languedoc, cut off from the sea during the uplift that raised the Pyrenees. The soils here are rich with saline & limestone and tiny fossilized sea creatures that impart an authentic minerality to the wines (think wet rocks and hints of zest on the finish). At Ferrandière, the vineyards undergo a period of flooding for 40 days after each winter in an effort to regulate the natural salinity of the soils upon which they grow. This ancestral technique allows the vines to be grown on their own rootstock as oppose to American rootstock. As such, the vineyard was uniquely protected from phylloxera in the beginning of the 20th century, which gives an added measure of authenticity to this great value!               

 A brief tasting note:  On the nose, delicate aromas of wildflowers, peach, strawberry, herbs de Provence, lavender, citrus zest, and hints of sea salt waft from the glass. One the palate, the 2022 expression has a touch more body and textural richness than the 2021, but with an undercurrent of mouthwatering acidity keeping the wine fresh, vibrant, and crisp. Flavors of strawberry, tangerine and wild berries are highlighted by fresh floral nuances and rocky minerals on the finish (think citrus rind and hints of sea salt).
