Even though the Amanti team loves a hoppy beer, we’ve long been appreciators of the traditional Pilsner style beer of the Old World. We wanted to make something that would please the lager-lovers while still offering echoes of bitter complexity for the hop-heads out there! Enter: Lazy Mazy, a 4.5% Italian-style Pilsner brewed by New Jersey Beer Company! Lazy Mazy is a crushable Pils perfect for tailgates, fireside hangouts, Autumn grilling, and more!—the single-decoction mash offers a bready backbone without becoming too malt-forward, bright notes of spice are accompanied by subtle hop bitterness. What’s an Italian-style Pilsner, you ask? It’s a style born of a happy accident back in the 90s. Agostino Arioli of Como, Italy, was on a mission to make a German pilsner, but when he missed the mark he decided to use the English method of dry-hopping to save the batch, resulting in a best-of-both-worlds style that offers the crisp, refreshing body of a pilsner with subtle hop notes of resin, pine, and citrus peel.

A little history on the brewery: In 2010, a small team of passionate brewers started out in North Bergen and soon grew into one of the state's top craft breweries. Since then, New Jersey Beer Co. has been on a mission to bring you great beer you can be proud to consume. In 2011, Jersey City real estate developer, Paul Silverman, invested in the brewery. Paul sets the cultural and ethical standards for the business, all while prioritizing the philanthropic side of brewing within the Northern NJ community. Head Brewer, Dave Manka, has brewed hundreds of beers over his time at NJBC, and he’s the brewery’s self-named ‘MacGyver’, in terms of both fixing equipment and dialing in recipes. NJBC has been a perennial addition to the Amanti Vino beer department for over a decade!
